Memento

My memento piece was very emotional for me. I based the piece off of a memory of getting my grandmother yellow roses for holidays, visits, and birthdays. Since my grandmother and I are close and she was recently diagnosed with breast and lung cancer I chose to focus on a single yellow rose for my memento piece. I used paper, green ink and yellow paint to assemble my piece. The rose petals are made from torn paper, the stem was made from rolling a small sheet of paper diagonally. The paint was applied in a way to bend the petals outward to take more of a rose shape.

Paper Sculpture

(no photos- lost them)

The paper sculpture was based on the student written poem called Korean Ruins. My inspiration for the sculpture came from my interpretation of the poem. I pictures a larger shadow looking person in front of some smaller ones and a few graves as well. Since the character talks about how they have gone through parents and protect the children around them. The piece itself was deep, but the poem behind the piece makes it stronger and more influential.

Architecture Relief

My architecture relief was based on a modern tree house style mixed with some gothic and some modern building style. The colors are strictly black and white, the spiral staircase was influenced from the gothic style, the curved outer shell was based from the modern tree house style. The color was influenced by all three, since black and white is a more modern look but the black is still dark and gothic.

Shoes

My masking tape shoes were based off of my Sperry Topsider shoes. All of the shoe is made with masking tape. The shoe is made to actual size, it consists of layers of tape for the base with some rolls in between. The sides of the shoes were made with sheets of masking tape and cut with an exacto blade to replicate the actual shoe. The laces were twisted and folded to look similar to the laces on the shoe.

Final Body Happenings Image

I wore my wings that I made out of wire and fabric, attached glow sticks and took a photo with a 5 second shutter. This composition is two separate 5 second images on top of each other to balance out the colors. I chose the same color scheme of glow sticks to go with the purple fabric I chose for the wings.

Soap Changes

I started my changes by removing the head and limbs of my turtle.
Then I created two holes in the bottom of the shell.
Then added the blue ink to give it a pop of color and some interest.
Added two more holes by taking soap out of the shell.
Added pink ink to give contrast to the blue.
Scored the top side with a seraded knife to give it texture.

Added pins to give it height.
Added soil and small lettuce plants to turn it into a colorful unique garden.
